Green Tree of Tulsa 2009/11/16
Three Holland Hall freshmen have been working diligently with their 8th grade science teacher in order to make a difference in Tulsa. Forming their own environmental group, Green Tree of Tulsa, they have been making a concerted effort to educate the public on how to better our environment. They have worked in the community, met with various businesses and have even made a difference right here on campus. Connor Cass, Caroline Adelson and Mike Barton first approached teacher Becca Parker in the summer months with their idea. As part of the Polar Bears International campaign, they were challenged with developing ideas on how to lessen CO2 emissions. They have applied for and been awarded a tree grant, presented Primary School students with saplings to plant in their community, and recently involved the Middle School by giving the 8th grade class trees to plant near the new Primary School additions. The team plans to continue documenting their efforts on their blog through the close of this year. Their drive and devotion to making our world a better place is a true reflection of Dutch pride.
