Holland Hall Book Fair Preview Party

The Book Fair Preview Party, restricted to Holland Hall family members age 21 and over, is a special first look at the thousands of interesting, low-priced fiction, nonfiction, children’s, and rare books we'll have on sale for the general public at the Book Fair the next day. Come enjoy appetizers, drinks, good books, good friends, AND be entered into a drawing! You will have a chance to win one of several gift baskets including a wine basket, college prep basket, golf basket, travel basket, feng shui basket, and a parenting basket.

 

When: Friday, February 24, 6 - 8:30pm

Where: Middle School Gym
Cost: $25 per person

Speakeasy Auction Meeting
Do you love to decorate? Do you have some ideas for sign up parties?

Volunteer for the Book Fair
The Book Fair isn’t possible without the help of hundreds of volunteers. Students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends – YOU are the reason the Book Fair continues to be one of Holland Hall’s most beloved and long-standing traditions.

$10 Tickets to TU Basketball Game

Saturday, February 11 at 5pm, our 3rd Graders will sing the National Anthem at the TU Basketball game. All Holland Hall families are offered discount tickets to this game! To reserve your tickets, please call Kaleb, TU Event Coordinator, at (918) 631-3049 before 1pm on February 10. You will be given a special $10/ticket price, be seated together with other Holland Hall families, and given a complimentary ticket if you have a 3rd Grade singer.

 

 

Athletic Announcements
Upper School Spring Sports Meeting: The parent meeting for Upper School spring sports will be Wednesday, February 15 in the US Commons at 6:30pm. We will have a short general meeting, followed by individual meetings to meet coaches and ask questions about the upcoming spring season.

 

District Basketball Games: Dutch basketball will host 3A District 6 game vs. Cascia Hall on Saturday, February 18. Girls at 6:30pm, followed by boys at 8pm. Tickets are $5 for adults and students. Only coaches playoff passes will be accepted.

 

This is an OSSAA playoff event so DutchBacker passes are not valid.

 

1000 Point Club: Congratulations to sophomore Gabby Gregory for scoring her 1000th point vs. Lincoln Christian. Gabby now has 1005 points in her two seasons at Holland Hall!

Primary School

Primary School Admission Tour
If you know anyone who is interested in Primary School admission and would like a tour of the school, please encourage them to join us on Tuesday, February 14 at 8:30am, in the Primary School lobby. We will tour the entire Primary School, provide admission packets and answer questions about the school and the admission process.

Primary School Parents’ Association Meeting

Middle School

Middle School Parents’ Association Meeting
We hope you can join us for our monthly Parents’ Association Meeting on Tuesday, February 14 at 8:15am in the Alumni Center. In addition to notes from Mr. Bicknell, Mr. Myers and Mrs. Gray will join us to discuss how we, as parents, can support our children in living positive digital lives.

Upper School Open House for 8th Grade Parents

Are you the parent(s) of an 8th Grade student? Do you have questions about 9th Grade courses? The modular schedule? Upper School athletics and/or arts offerings? If so, please join us on Wednesday, February 15 at 8:30am for an Upper School Open House designed just for you. You will observe morning meeting, hear from teachers and students, enjoy a light breakfast, and tour the building. Middle School Day of Service Reminder
This past week, we sent an email to all MS parents with more details regarding one of our outreach projects on the Middle School Day of Service on February 23. Students will be putting together Kids' Packs for IronGate and we need to collect the items for those packs. As a reminder, we are asking each grade-level to bring in the following items by Tuesday, February 21.

 

4th Grade
765 non-refrigerated pudding cups. (That’s about 16/student.)

 

5th Grade
765 individual goldfish or pretzel bags. (That’s about 12/student)

 

6th Grade
765 individual goldfish or pretzel bags. (That’s about 12/student)

 

7th Grade
765 granola bars. (That’s about 11/student)

Middle School Honor Choir at the Tulsa Oilers
The Middle School Honor Choir will sing the National Anthem at the Tulsa Oilers ice hockey game on February 24.

 

 

Student Math Festival at TU
On Saturday, March 25, the University of Tulsa is hosting a Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival to inspire students to explore the richness and beauty of mathematics through activities that encourage collaborative, creative problem-solving. The event will take place from 9-11:30am at the Student Union - Allen Chapman Activity Center.

 

This free event is open to Middle School students in 6th-8th Grade, but preregistration is required. Registration and more information can be found at jrmfattu.utulsa.edu. Additionally, you will need to bring a completed Photo Consent Form with you.

Upper School

 

Winter Social at the Roller Rink

The Social Committee of student government is excited to announce that our winter social will be on Saturday, February 11 from 5-7pm at Broken Arrow Roller Sports. The theme is “Galaxy”!

 

 

Upper School Culture Week
The week of February 13-17 will be Culture Week during morning meeting. We will have French, Spanish, and Chinese songs by our students, martial arts performances, dances, and food booths hosted by our cultural clubs. Please join us for these performances in morning meeting!

 

 

Looking Forward: AP Exams
If your child plans to take an AP test this spring and is NOT currently enrolled in an AP class at Holland Hall (such as AP chemistry or AP Calculus), we need to know if he/she is taking an exam and currently qualifies for accommodations. For example, many of our seniors choose to take one of the AP English exams. Please contact Whitney Schmidt at wschmidt@hollandhall.org if your child is in this situation by Wednesday, February 15.

 

 

Class Rings
Tuesday, February 21, a Josten’s representative will be on campus to meet with Sophomores about class rings. An information packet will be given to the students to bring home. The Josten’s representative will return Monday, February 27 at 7:30am to take orders.

 

 

Looking to April
Career Shadow Day and Service Day will take place April 6-7. Just under half of our student body will be at the ISAS Arts Festival on these days. Those who are at Holland Hall are being asked to set up a shadow day with a professional in the community for Thursday, April 6. On Friday, April 7, students will be on campus during the morning and then off campus for the rest of the day. Next week, we will send materials home with students. Please be sure to look over the information and let us know if you have questions! We are asking students to nail down their Career Shadow Day by Monday, February 27.

 

 

Announcement for 9th Grade Parents

As part of our unit on Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, on Wednesday, February 22, all 9th Graders will participate in a field trip to explore Oklahoma’s relationship to the Dust Bowl, Route 66, and other historical contexts of the novel.

 

We will begin by going to the Woody Guthrie Museum in downtown Tulsa. After a presentation and tour of the museum, we will enjoy lunch from "Food Truck Wednesday" on the Guthrie Green. Then we will head down the Historic Route 66, including sights in Tulsa and out near Sapulpa. The observations that students make from this experience will culminate in a visual essay assignment. • Trip date — Wednesday, February 22 (

9:10am — Load HH buses and depart
3:00pm
— Return to Holland Hall
• Students involved in athletics are expected to attend required practices.

 

MATERIALS AND NEEDS:
• Students will need to bring at least $10 for
 lunch, or pack a lunch to eat at Guthrie Green.
• Students should bring their phones or camera in order to take pictures, record sounds, etc.

TODAY, Friday, February 10, is the regular registration deadline for the March 11 SAT test.

 

Note: There are no Subject Tests (SAT II's) administered on this date.

 

The late registration deadline is February 28, however, there is an additional fee.
