Search Firm
February 3, 2010
With the objective of identifying and hiring a new Headmaster, the Board Executive Committee completed two tasks during January. First, the Executive Committee interviewed consulting firms specializing in headmaster searches for independent schools. As a result of those interviews the Committee selected Educators’ Collaborative (www.educatorscollaborative.com) to lead the search process for Holland Hall. Educators’ Collaborative has conducted educational searches since 1971. The two principals who will lead the search for Holland Hall — Edward “Ned” Becker and Jim Maggart — are both former headmasters for independent schools in Houston, among other qualifications. Background information for Ned and Jim is included on the Educators’ Collaborative website.
Second, the Executive Committee appointed a Headmaster Search Committee that will work directly with Educators’ Collaborative to ultimately select a new Headmaster for Holland Hall.
Trustees Liz Peterson and Keith Goddard ’87 will co-chair the Search Committee, which also includes:
Phil Allen ’73 — Alumni Parent, Board President
Roger Collins — Alumni Parent, Trustee
Cara Hall ’84 — Current Parent, Board Vice President
Robert Hughes ’84 — Current Parent, Trustee
Dave Keglovits — Current Parent, Board Secretary
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Edward Konieczny — Bishop, Episcopal Diocese of
Oklahoma, Trustee
Rick Koontz ’81 — Trustee
Tammie Maloney — Alumni Parent, Past Board President 2005-2009,
Trustee
Hal Salisbury — Current Parent, Trustee
Steadman Upham, Ph.D. — President of The University of Tulsa,
Advisory Council
As part of the search process, the Search Committee will launch in March an online survey of the Holland Hall community to solicit comments as to the qualities and characteristics for a new Headmaster. The results of this survey will form the basis for the “Information for Candidates Report” which Educators’ Collaborative will use to screen and identify candidates. The Search Committee will issue a communication to the Holland Hall Community to alert you as to the date the survey site goes “live.” Furthermore, representatives of Educators’ Collaborative will visit Holland Hall for two days in March for on-campus meetings with faculty, parents, students, and administration personnel.
Finally, concurrent with the search for a permanent Headmaster, the Executive Committee expects to select an interim Headmaster for the 2010-2011 school year by the end of February.
We will keep the Holland Hall community apprised of developments throughout this process, as we look forward to selecting a new Headmaster for Holland Hall. Please contact Keith Goddard or Liz Peterson with any questions or comments.
