Exchange Programs
Mexico Exchange – The Mexico Exchange Program takes place each year. At the very end of the school year, in late May, a group of selected eighth grade Spanish students spends approximately eight weeks in Tulsa’s sister city San Luis Potosi. They live with Mexican families, visit places of interest, and attend classes at Instituto Cervantes through early July, when their school year ends. The students are accompanied by a Holland Hall teacher during the first and last weeks of the sojourn. In the fall semester, a group of eighth grade students from Instituto Cervantes arrive in Tulsa to join the Holland Hall community. They spend two months living with seventh and eighth grade families and attending Holland Hall.
Many people, in addition to the exchange students themselves, experience this cross-cultural program. Many host families, teachers, coaches, classmates, parents and siblings are involved each year. Exchange students participate in family and school activities throughout their stay, and form long-lasting friendships. There is an application and selection process for this program. Interested students and families should contact Janice Moore, Middle School Language Department Chair.
French Exchange – The annual French Exchange Program takes place with students from La Providence located in Tulsa’s sister city, Amiens, France. In March, selected 8th grade Holland Hall students spend two weeks living with French host families and attending school with their host siblings or correspondents. The students visit many places of interest on school field trips, and they experience the culture first hand with their French families. Two Holland Hall teachers accompany the group and remain in Amiens throughout the program. In April, the French students from La Providence spend two weeks at Holland Hall staying with their American correspondents’ families and attending HH classes and other school events. Participating HH exchange families organize recreational events and chaperone excursions to local places of interests.
The Holland Hall 8th graders departed for France on Friday, March 9, 2012 and spent two weeks abroad.
The French students from La Providence in Amiens, France will visit Tulsa on Saturday, April 14 and stay through April 28.
