Middle School 4-8

The Middle School application process involves the following steps:

  • Complete the application (on-line)

  • Complete the Teacher Recommendation Forms (English and Mathematics Teacher Recommendations are required for students applying for grades 4-8. Sixth-eighth grade students also have a recommendation form for an extracurricular activity).

  • Complete the Parent Waiver form and return to the Admission Office

  • Turn in grades from the last two years and any current standardized test scores

  • Turn in a copy of the birth certificate and immunization records

  • Complete the grade-level assessment, which includes the writing of an essay, three portions of the ERB test and the drawing of a picture.

  • Complete an interview with a faculty member (usually occurs during the campus visit)

While completion of the first five steps will complete an applicant’s admission file, they are not required at the beginning of the process. Frequently, the parent/guardian of a student interested in learning more about the Holland Hall program starts the process by calling the Admission Office to schedule a “shadow visit.” During the visit, the student, who is paired with a host in the grade for which they are applying, will attend classes, eat a complementary lunch, and have an interview with a faculty member.

In order to accommodate the large number of Middle School School applicants, testing dates have been scheduled on Saturday, November 17, 2012,  Saturday, January 5, 2013, and Saturday, February 9, 2013.  If these dates do not fit into your schedule, please contact the Admission Office and we will come up with a workable arrangement.

After the shadow visit, the completion of the assessment, and the collection of the materials listed above, the Admission Office will contact the parent/guardian regarding the admission decision.
