MathCounts - Mondays, 3:40-4:30pm, Room 6B
Begins September 12

MathCounts is a National Problem Solving Competition. Students work on fun and challenging problems and activities provided by the MathCounts and Mathclub organization. We meet on Monday afternoon from 3:30-4:30pm in the 6th Grade math room (6B). Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students. After-School Study Hall - Mondays/Thursdays, 3:15-4:15pm, Room 124/125
Begins September 8

By request or invitation, students attend After-School Study Hall to get started on their homework with the supervision of Mrs. Gina Johnson or Mrs. Jeanne Laidlow.  While not receiving one-on-one homework help, students benefit from the structured environment to utilize best practices as it comes to approach to task. Language Arts Study Hall (NEW) - Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15pm, Room 124/125
Begins September 6

Language Arts Study Hall is a one day per week opportunity open to all students in the middle school. English faculty will be available to answer questions about reading/ annotating, the writing process, literary devices and any homework assignment with an emphasis on reading and writing. FLL Competitive Robotics - Tuesdays/Thursdays, 3:30-4:30pm, MS Design Center
Begins September 1

The First Lego League (FLL) Robotics team is open to students in 5th-8th Grades.  Teams consisting of 4-5 members (up to 3 teams) will meet twice a week to prepare for the FLL competition. There are four components of the competition — a research project, research presentation, robot game, and team building. Fourth Grade Science Club - 1 or 2 month, Thursdays, 3:15-4:15pm, Room 4D

The Science Club is open to all 4th Grade students who are interested in learning more about science. An extension of the science classroom experience, students will explore the world of science in a fun way. All activities are voluntary. Service Learning at McAuliffe Elementary - Wednesdays, 2:30-4:45pm
Begins September 28

McAuliffe is a Title 1 Community School in the Union District. We will assist in the McAuliffe after-school tutoring program working one-on-one with children on basic skills. Some volunteers will interact with ELL students focusing on English conversation skills.Student volunteers will be excused from sports (7th/8th) and Enrichment (6th) on Wednesdays to depart the HH campus at 2:30pm returning to the Circle Drive by 4:40pm. Faculty members and parent volunteers will provide transportation. We hope to create a core group of committed volunteers, but weekly attendance is not a must.

Academic Team - Wednesdays, 3:35-4:15pm, Room 107
Begins in October

Academic Team encourages 6th, 7th and 8th Graders to join in on weekly fun from October through March. Team members will brush up on their knowledge in weekly practice round play through January and compete with local schools in head to head competition after the first of the year.
