Congratulations Mrs. Cardiel

We hope you’ll join us in congratulating our newest Pauline McFarlin Walter Master Teacher Chair — Patrice Cardiel.
This honor was made possible by an endowed gift from Mrs. Walter, one of Holland Hall’s most generous benefactors, and honors a teacher who is a leader and demonstrates excellence in the craft of teaching.
Mrs. Walter’s daughter, Mary Frances Walter O’Hornett ’35, was a student leader in the school’s early years. Later, she served as a member of the Board of Trustees, receiving an Emeritus Trustee appointment until she passed away in 2014. Four generations of the family have attended and graduated from Holland Hall. Mrs. Walter believed in Holland Hall and always supported our faculty and students because of our unique ability to prepare the next generation for positions of leadership.
Mrs. Cardiel has been teaching for 41 years, with 38 of those at Holland Hall. She has taught Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, and Fifth grades, and has a special interest in children’s literature and literacy instruction.
She has served as the Primary School Language Arts Coordinator, the Primary School Diversity Coordinator and the People’s Supper Coordinator. She is the mother of 2009 Holland Hall graduate and lifer Hannah Cardiel Park.
“Patrice is exceptional in every way,” said Head of School JP Culley. “From her vast and committed knowledge of reading and writing instruction, to her comprehensive understanding of child development, Patrice helps every child in her classroom achieve their absolute best. She’s highly regarded by her teaching peers throughout Holland Hall and in the broader Tulsa community.”
Mrs. Cardiel succeeds Vanessa Jones, who was named head of the Mary K. Chapman Primary School this year.
Congratulations, Mrs. Cardiel!
