ISAS 2020: Best volunteer opportunity of the year!

We are thrilled to announce that the Parent Volunteer SignUp Genius Link for ISAS Arts Festival 2020 is now live!  Almost 4,000 people from 43 independent schools will be on campus April 2-4, and we need every part of the Holland Hall community to get involved. Plus, volunteering is the only way you’ll get to see the festival!

What do you need to do?

  1. You must have a  KeepNTrack online background check on file. (If you have completed this in the past, you do not need another one).
  2. Decide what you’d like to do — a detailed list of volunteer opportunities will be sent out Monday and includes everything from being a performance venue monitor to greeting guests in the dining tent.
  3. Sign up for a shift here: bit.ly/ISASsignup
  4. Everyone should make sure they’re familiar with the ISAS Calendar and FAQ Page.

Faculty and staff will all be participating but have a separate sign-up sheet.

Thank you in advance for your help with making this festival the best ever.

Join us after drop-off until noon on the following dates:

2/11, 2/12 and 2/19.

Also, don’t forget to clean out your toys/games/puzzles over the break and donate them to the a Book Fair!

Please contact Erin Redfearn or Kristin Lees with any questions!

Holland Hall hosts sexual violence expert at free, public talk

Recent studies show that more than 20 percent of women and 5 percent of men will experience rape or sexual assault in college. And the risk is increased during the first few months of their first and second semesters, according to the Campus Sexual Assault Study published in the Journal of American College Health.

That’s why Holland Hall is bringing Dr. John D. Foubert, a national expert on sexual violence and the dangers of pornography, to speak to students before they go to college. And the school is inviting area parents, school administrators, teachers and college officials to come to a public talk with Foubert at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, in the Walter Arts Center’s Branch Theatre.

Foubert, who is the dean of the College of Education at Union University, also serves as an expert for sexual assault prevention in the U.S. Army and founded the national nonprofit organization One in Four, which has worked for 20 years to apply research to rape prevention programs on college campuses, in communities, and in the military. He’s been interviewed frequently by CNN, C-Span and NPR, as well as the New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education and Time Magazine.

He will speak to eighth-grade and Upper School students on Friday, February 21. If parents have any concerns about their students attending, please talk to a branch head.
