For 100 years, Holland Hall has been serving the families of Tulsa and beyond with a deep respect for educational excellence in a holistic environment. Committed to creative, active teaching and learning, the Holland Hall classroom experience is rich with exploration and discovery.
The opportunity to become an Apple Distinguished School highlights Holland Hall Middle School’s commitment to innovative teaching. We purposely employ Apple technologies - hardware, software, and platforms - into our practices to advance meaningful and impactful learning experiences for our students.
Being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School also emphasizes Holland Hall's commitment to delivering a world-class education while preparing each student for their next step in this digital age.
We look forward to sharing with other like-minded schools and gaining access to the specialized training, resources, and support from Apple that the program offers.
In a word, our students must be nimble. Change’s pace is too great for strict content. Identifying problems then organizing resources around them to address the issues will lead the way in how we continue to design their learning experience. These skills and this type of thinking will stay with, and benefit, our students and their communities for the rest of their lives.
— JP Culley, Head of School
We highlight student projects and work on the walls of our buildings and frequently invite families to come view presentations that students are proud of. Middle School music concerts, art shows, 4th Grade Living Museum and America Day, 5th Grade Engineering Fair, 6th Grade Earth Exploration, 7th Grade Tulsa Downtown Studies, and 8th Grade Shark Tank are some examples of learning experiences that are publicly shared with our greater Holland Hall community. Many of our videos and photos are shared on social media and in internal videos that highlight the life of the school. Holland Hall has so many unique experiences that we are proud of and want to share.

The element of student choice and voice is critical in the journey of learning. Students are much more eager to engage, participate, explore, and learn if they feel that they are part of the journey and process. Allowing students to choose topics to research, to select formats of presentations, to come up with creative ways to demonstrate their learning are all ways that teachers can bring students into the process of learning with them. With iPad and internet available to all learners in the Middle School, teachers are no longer the distributors of information or the drivers of learning, instead, teachers can become the facilitators who are guiding and learning alongside their students.
