Holland Hall Tennis

Austin Miller is the head boys tennis coach and Social Studies teacher at Holland Hall. Although he’s an Oklahoma native (Shattuck in western Oklahoma), Miller graduated from Carlsbad High School in New Mexico in 2010. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico in 2015 and three years later there, he earned a Master of Arts degree. In 2024, Miller got his PhD in History from Southern Methodist University. He’s a big fan of English writer and philologist J.R.R. Tolkien and a self-professed Lord of the Rings nerd.

“I want to build a tennis program at Holland Hall that emphasizes hard work, commitment, and sportsmanship. Tennis is a wonderful game for developing mental, physical, and intestinal fortitude, and unlike most sports, it can be a lifelong pursuit. I hope that for my players, tennis becomes something of a guide to life that will help them develop the mindset and skills to navigate the challenges the world will throw at them. It’s also a ton of fun!”
