Advanced Composition I-III
A progressive series (Pass/Fail) for Holland Hall Writing Center coaches where students learn peer coaching philosophy, provide constructive feedback, and engage in collaborative study of best composition practices.
Advanced Composition IV
The final, advanced leadership tiers of the program where experienced coaches design and implement a plan to broaden the Writing Center’s mission and impact on the community.
Independent Study
Select a topic for in-depth, personalized study in the sciences, humanities, or non-performing arts, working with an instructor to explore a subject not currently covered by an existing course.
College Seminar
A discussion group that introduces all juniors to the college search and selection process, covering testing, visits, interviews, essays, and practice applications with the College Counseling team.
Senior Seminar
A course dedicated to providing information and dialogue on the emotional and social adjustment to college life, covering topics like personal responsibility, safety, and managing the transition from a known environment.
Sports – Fall
Cheerleading, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Softball, Volleyball, Football
Freshman Wellness
A required Pass/Fail course designed to aid 9th graders in adjusting to Upper School by focusing on study skills, goal-setting, interpersonal relationships, and identity as they navigate new freedoms and responsibilities.
Sophomore Wellness
A continuation of Wellness focusing on the freedom and responsibility associated with turning 16, healthy decision-making, stress management, and the initial steps of the college process (assessments, resume building).
Leadership: Taking Initiative
A Pass/Fail course designed to help students understand their inherent leadership qualities and learn new skills, offering opportunities to implement these skills within Holland Hall or the wider community.
