Convocation features performances, senior charge
One of Holland Hall's longest standing traditions happened Friday as students processed up the Alumni Walk to cheering parents on their way to the Walter Arts Center for the official opening-of-school ceremony.
After a rousing speech from Head of School JP Culley, who encouraged the crowd to "be curious" like a first-grader, students and faculty enjoyed performances from Addison Williams '33, who did an original tap routine, a dance from London '29 and Lillie '30 Hoffman, and a rendition of the Foo Fighters' classic "My Hero," from The Mavericks, featuring Isabelle Kiefer '28, Harrison White, '27, Passion Pierre '26, Harper May '26, and Yadi Simmons '26.
The highlight of the day is always the video from Chris McConnell, which you can see here.

Primary School Library hours explained

We are fortunate to have the Maloney Family Library, which is first and foremost a resource for our Primary School students and faculty. Our handbook states that children in Kindergarten–3rd grade may check out books weekly with their class, and our younger students may enjoy the collection with a family member. We love that parents model a love of reading, and we encourage families to enjoy the collection together. To ensure that our students have consistent access to the materials they need for classwork and special programs, we are clarifying the following guidelines:
Parents may check out one book at a time for family use.
Display books, Redbud Read-Aloud titles, and other program-specific resources are reserved for student use only.
Visits to the library and parent checkouts should take place after school hours, not during scheduled library classes or during the school day.
We are grateful for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our library collection accessible and engaging for all students.

Holland Hall welcomes 44 colleges to campus this week

The first college fair of the season set up in the Upper School's Barnard Commons on Monday, with 44 colleges and universities represented. Students were able to walk through booths and get to know the people who travel across the country on behalf of their schools.
Holland Hall is always a special place to visit, many of the reps said, because our students "ask good questions," said Emma Milligan, of Southern Nazarene University. In fact, the number one question at the Newman University booth was "how much will it cost?" followed by "what's the ROI (return on investment)?"
"Crazy for fresmen to be asking," said Newman College's Kolton Landreth. "But I love it!"
Reminders about US attendance
Attendance Policy
Parents must inform Mrs. Alford, US Attendance Coordinator, by 8 a.m. at USattendance@hollandhall.org or 539-476-8287 if a student will be absent from school or tardy to school.
Planned Absences
Students who have a planned school-related absence OR personal absence need to complete an absence form. This requires them to meet with each teacher to discuss any work they may miss while they are out. The form should be completed, signed by a parent, and then turned in to Mrs. Alford prior to the scheduled absence. These forms can be found in the US Business off by Mrs. Alford’s desk.
Arriving Late/Leaving Early
Parents must notify Mrs. Alford via email or phone call if their student(s) will arrive late to or leave early from campus. Students should communicate directly with teachers to discuss any work they missed due to their late arrival or early departure.
