Some solutions to the uniform shortage

C&J Uniforms and Lands' End are currently experiencing shipping delays for uniforms. If you can't find logoed shirts in the needed size, there are a few options.

1. The Dutch Exchange in the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Dining and Wellness Center can be opened for parents looking for shirts, pants and skirts. Everything in the Exchange is gently used. Just check in at the front reception desk during the school's summer hours — 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

2. Middle School students can wear any gray polo shirt — with or without a logo — for the time being. A Holland Hall Tshirt also would be acceptable for a short time. Primary School students can wear plain white polo shirts until orders are in.

Important: New family and 9th grade orientation

All 9th-graders and new students are required to attend an important orientation on August 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Students need to bring their charged MacBooks for this event. All families are welcome to walk around the Upper School, look at their child's schedule with them, and get to know the space that morning at 9 a.m.

As the countdown to the start of school begins, make sure you're checking your email

Families, you should be receiving multiple emails about some required documents that must be completed before school starts.

— New this year, all of the forms you once signed on paper are online. You must fill out every form before your child can start school in August. To access them, go to gotohh.org/parentportal, and click on the Annual Forms tab on the left-hand sidebar. These are best done on a computer, not a mobile device.

Physicals are now required for every student beginning in Kindergarten. You will receive an email beginning 6 weeks before your current physical expires to remind you that a new one is due. Physicals are required and must be current to begin school in August.

If your child needs a physical and you can't make an appointment with a primary care doctor, many walk-in clinics — including the MyDoctor locations at 71st Street and Yale Avenue and 101st Street and Sheridan Road — offer low-cost options. The physical forms, which meet OSSAA requirements, can be found here, gotohh.org/physicalforms. Please take a copy with you to the appointment.

— Immunization records are due for incoming Kindergarten and 7th-graders. Please make sure you have that documentation from your physician and send it to nurse@hollandhall.org.

— A letter from your child's branch head, as well as PS teacher and MS advisor assignments will be available the first week in August. You will receive an email prompting you to check the Parent Portal.

Upper School Fall Play - Sense and Sensibility

Sense and Sensibility
By Kate Hamill, Based on the Novel by Jane Austen
October 6, 7 and 8

A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and emotion driven Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold, invigorating and inventive theatricality. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

Tell us what you think

Families, you have one more chance to fill out our most recent survey. This is your chance to share how your experience at the school has been, and to let us know what has worked for your family and what you think could be improved. There is an opportunity to leave your name if you'd like to be part of a more in-depth survey later.

Extended Day Programs

Many families require care for their children beyond the normal school hours. Holland Hall offers before- and after-school care for students, including drop-ins, allowing flexibility and convenience for our families. Our Extended Day Program is supported by the Procare app — found in the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Before-school care begins as early as 7 a.m. and lasts until the students are dismissed to their classrooms for the start of the school day. After-school care begins at 2:45 p.m. for EPK, PreK, and JK students and at 3 p.m. for students in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades. We request parents email their child’s teacher and cc Debbie Almohandis if they know they will be attending after care regularly or need to drop-in for the day. Teachers need to know who is going home and who is staying. For questions concerning Extended Day programs, please contact Debbie Almohandis at dalmohandis@hollandhall.org.

New families, you will get a Procare email with your unique code closer to the start of school. Follow the steps to copy and paste the code to your Procare App. You will then receive your PIN code via another email that you will utilize for each check-in and check-out from your mobile device. Tap on the padlock icon on the top right corner of your phone, it will unlock the padlock and your PIN code will drop down.

When you get your email, make sure to open the app and update your child's birthday, any allergies, additional people who are authorized to pick up your child and payment information.

Extended day schedule

On the first three days of school — August 17-19 — the before-school and after-school care schedule will be a little different.

August 17 — Before-school care offered for PS and MS only; no after-school care

August 18 — Before-school care offered for PS and MS; after-school care available for MS only

August 19 — Before-school care offered for PS and MS; after-school care available for MS only

Freshman Orientation dates set

Incoming Freshman will take part in a Holland Hall tradition Thursday, Sept. 15 through Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Two sessions of Freshman Orientation will take place during this time frame: Half of the class will camp and hike in the Wichita Mountains Thursday, September 15 through Saturday, September 17, and the other half of the class will participate in the same Freshman Orientation program from Sunday, September 18 through Tuesday, September 20.

Freshman Orientation is an experiential learning program, so there will not be classes scheduled during the trips, so no classes will be missed. When your student is not on the trip, they will not be in school.

If your child is enrolled in a fall sport, we will plan their Freshman Orientation group according to their athletic schedule.

If you need to request a session for your child, please email Grace Weber at gweber@hollandhall.org by Friday, August 19. Please keep in mind that we need to limit these requests to major family conflicts, such as attending a wedding, funeral, etc.
