Senior parents: Update on group photos for senior slideshow

While group photos of 4 or more are recommended because of the timing for the Slideshow, it's most important that every student is represented! So please go ahead and send any group photos that have 2 or 3 kids.

We still need individual photos from many of you!

Here is what is needed:

ONE single baby/toddler/early years moment

ONE single middle school moment (does not have to be a school-related photo)

ONE senior year moment (most parents will submit one of their senior photos, but this is not required)

Your submissions must contain your senior’s full name, as well as the names of any students captured in group photos.

Send sweet moments, send silly moments!  We want to see their personalities!

Submit all photos and questions to dutchsenior2026@gmail.com.

Middle School Village traffic changes — email to come

Please check your emails for a message from Middle School Head Jennifer White about some changes to The Village traffic patterns. and thank you to everyone who has made our transition to The Village so smooth! We appreciate you.

Supervision in Upper School Parking Lots
We have noticed a small number of Middle School students remaining in cars in Upper School parking lots until our start time. Because these areas are not supervised or monitored by security for Middle School students, we ask that any Middle School student waiting during this time attend Before Care so they are appropriately supervised.

Afternoon Carpool Arrival Time
Please resist arriving early for afternoon carpool. Lining up early early arrival prevents Upper School drivers from exiting campus and contributes to traffic congestion. If you arrive at 3:15 p.m., you will have ample time to pick up your child, as Middle School classes dismiss at 3:20 p.m.

4th & 5th Grade Pick-Up Adjustment
We will begin picking up 5th grade students in the same lot used for their morning drop-off, as we already do with 4th. We anticipate this change will improve traffic flow and reduce wait times.

Middle School Basketball Pick-Up
Parents picking up Middle School basketball players behind the Upper School gym should park in an available parking space rather than waiting in the carpool line. This helps keep traffic moving smoothly.

Families with 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Students: To keep 6th grade afternoon pick-up separate from 4th/5th grade, families have two options:

  • Pick up your 4th/5th grader first, then drive to the Tandy area to pick up your 6th grader, or
  • Send your 4th/5th grader with “Sibling Squad” to the Tandy area to be picked up alongside your 6th grader.
  • We already use this system successfully for 7th/8th grade siblings and are extending it to 6th grade due to location logistics.

Math club announcements

Math club resumes: The 5th and 6th grade Math club resumes Monday, Jan. 12. Meetings will be held in Room 8A (8th Grade Math classroom). Please plan to pick up your student at 4:15 p.m. at the 4th–6th grade morning drop-off location. Our final session of the year will be Monday, March 30.

Holland Hall hosting competition: Holland Hall will host the AMC 8 Math competition on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 8 a.m. Please plan to arrive by 7:45 a.m. We will be testing in the Tandy Self conference room. The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.
