Inspired by our 2026-27 school motto, “One,” Lennon John’s T-shirt design was named the best in a Middle School vote and is featured on the red Field Day T-shirt for the 2026 event.

Her design features the words “One School,” “One Dutch,” and “One Team” on the back — a simple but unifying message.

“I just tried to go off (our motto), because we’re just one school, one Dutch,” Lennon said. “I’ve been designing since the 4th grade and trying to win it because I thought that would be really cool.”

Lennon, a 7th grader, didn’t enter a design last year. Her win this year, in a close vote, took her by surprise.

“I think someone came up to me and said, ‘Oh, by the way, you won,’” Lennon said. “And then after that, everyone started making a big deal about it and then I got so excited. Then I realized this is actually insane, like how cool it is.”

Each year, Middle School students design a T-shirt and the Middle School votes for the best one. The winning design is placed on the Field Day T-shirt.

Lennon has attended Holland Hall since kindergarten. Her mom is varsity girls soccer coach Jenn Muir, and her stepdad is Upper School Dean of Students Phil Muir.

And we couldn’t interview Lennon without asking if she’s a Beatles fan, given her name. She likes one Beatles song, “Here Comes the Sun.”

The annual Holland Hall Field Day with booths, games and food is Tuesday, Oct. 13.
